Below are some of the sessions on offer with an overview of what they are about.
Stay & Play
A fun and informal group for parents & children aged birth to five. Structured and spontaneous play activities are available including outdoor play and creative ‘messy’ activities. Parents/carers can access a variety of information, support and advice on play, child development, childcare options and other relevant services. The group is supported by qualified and experienced early year’s practitioners.
We provide 2 clinics per week one during the day and one in the evening for working parents. Routine health checks can be undertaken such as baby´s weight, length, general health and well-being. The session gives parents/carers an opportunity to speak to their health visitor regarding issues such as breastfeeding, weaning, potty training, behaviour management etc.
An opportunity for registered childminders to meet, share ideas and use the facilities in the Children’s Centre. Parents / carers can also come along to meet their local childminders when looking for childcare options.
This is a five week programme for parents / carers and their babies. The infant massage strokes are demonstrated (on a special doll) by a qualified instructor, the parents learn and carry out the massage strokes on their babies. The massage focuses on a different body part each week and topics around post natal issues are discussed. Infant massage can have many benefits such as promoting bonding and attachment, encouraging peer support and supporting mothers with postnatal depression.
Infant massage is often the first group parents come to within the Children’s Centre therefore we also promote and signpost them to other activities within the centre.
Magical Movement
An exciting opportunity for parents and children to explore movement in a stimulating environment. Trained practitioners offer advice and information for parents / carers regarding how movement has an impact on children’s learning and development.
Confidential contraception and sexual health advice and support (drop-in sessions).
