The DBI are pleased to announce that the capacity of the car park at the Chestnut Centre in Sheepridge has been expanded.
This is down to the success of the centre as there are no longer enough parking spaces to facilitate the number of visitors to the centre during peak times. The expansion is also in response to complaints from local residents about centre visitors parking on nearby streets, causing congestion and parking issues.
The expansion has added approximately 30 more spaces and will hopefully end the current parking issues. The land used for the expansion is situated to the far end of the Chestnut Centre’s business units, and was derelict land. The new car park has allowed this land to be cleaned up and put to good use, helping improve the appearance of the area a great deal.
Cllr Jean Calvert, Chair of the DBI Ltd Board said “This is great news for not only visitors to the Chestnut Centre, but residents adjacent to the centre whose streets have been congested. It also shows just how successful the centre has become since opening. Local residents have really taken to the centre and it is now an integral part of community life for many people, providing important information and services. Special mention has to be made to the Chestnut Centre’s staff for helping in the success as well as those who have made an impact behind the scenes. Hopefully the new expansion will allow for even more visitors, in what appears to be a bright future for the centre.”
